Description:

TALL, the Tenderloin Art Lending Library announces it is open has commenced its free art lending program.

Mission

TALL is an artist run project for lending and borrowing artwork to Tenderloin residents, and others, free-of-charge. It is a trust-based where artists, the majority of whom live in the Tenderloin, provide artwork to be checked out by any member of the Tenderloin Community, all in the spirit of trust, sharing and celebration.

Philosophy

It is as important to understand the beauty of a musical phrase or the composition of a drawing, as it is to learn how to read or compute numbers. TALL is based on the belief that each person in the Tenderloin community can appreciate and enjoy paintings, prints, drawings and all forms of visual arts expression. TALL provides this opportunity.

Notes

  • The primary focus is on serving the tenderloin neighborhood, but people from other neighborhoods may borrow art work as well.
  • People must register with TALL prior to borrowing art. To register one needs a CAL ID and verification of residence, such as a utility bill or letter from your landlord or building manager.
  • TALL receives support from the North of Market / Tenderloin Community Benefit District and Southern Exposure’s Alternative Exposure Grant
